Clever Rabbit Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely loved Clever Rabbit! While it's very vegetable-focused, all the options were very filling and different (carrot dumplings?! yum!) It was a different take on veggies and the cocktail list was incredible - highly recommend the carrot margarita and the drink with matcha in it. I will be going back!
Hungry Rabbit always delivers an amazing experience. The ingredients are high quality and the seasoning is perfect. Each dish is unique in taste and texture. The service is not rushed and perfectly timed. Ask the server to deliver the courses as recommended by the chef for an even better experience. Do not hesitate to reserve a 5:30pm table before a 7:30pm Bulls or Blackhawks game. You will have a great meal at a much better value than a bar in the West Loop, and your companions will be talking about the meal for weeks to follow.
would come back just for the atmosphere! they played a lot of Queen & Bowie that night, which was fun. burger was incredible- would also recommend the carrot margarita. server was sweet and attentive. we weren't fans of the coffee (dark matter) but waitress took it off our bill. overall wonderful experience.
We went for NYE with a small group. Small plates to share. Food was DELISH and different. It’s known to be a vegetarian restaurant, but had a few non-veg options. Im not a vegetarian by loved every single dish. Server was great and personable. Would definitely recommend Clever Rabbit to a friend. A must-check-out!
Most dishes are meant to be shared, which was fun. The menu is very creative, with a lot of interesting flavor combinations. For example, it would have been easy (and obvious) for them to serve their carrot dumplings with a brown sugar butter sauce, but instead they went with a sesame ginger sauce, which made the whole dish lighter and allowed the subtle carrot flavors really come through. And, although it seems like everyone has a kale salad on the menu these days, theirs was really delicious - definitely a cut above the rest. All in all, we were very impressed and will definitely go back again. This is also a really good option for mixed groups of vegetarians and non-vegetarians because there's something for everyone here.
We were interested in getting out of our neighborhood (river north) & trying something new. We're both vegetarians. We were incredibly impressed with Clever Rabbit's menu, selection, variety, & drinks. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu offering suggestions & drinks. We'll definitely be back to enjoy the great food & atmosphere.
Truly my favorite place to go to these days. Authentic, healthy, beautiful yet non-pretentious place with great music playing that is not so loud that you can't converse. I love the fact this this vegetable forward (truly delicious and creative vegetable dishes) has one of the best burgers and roasted chicken dishes I've had.
We enjoyed our second visit to Clever Rabbit very much. We brought friends from out of town and we all were thrilled with the vegetable-centric cuisine, although the burger is also amazing. We happily shared everything and the drinks were also good. Look forward to returning when we are in the area.
Didn't really honor our reservation. Just gave us the next available table... or, the second next available table since a couple that walked in after us got seated before us despite our having an 8:15 and it being 8:45. The food was okay, but I suppose I was expecting something better than usual for vegetarian dishes and it didn't meet the bar.
Vegitarian-forward place. One of my guests was V/GF/DF and Clever Rabbit has all of the above clearly marked.
The dishes were very good, creative and satisfied the vegetarians and non-vegetarians among us.
The restaurant is very attractive and cozy. The tables are set far enough apart that one doesnt feel that they're in the labs of their neighbors.
Wood definitely go back! The only caution is that the chef seems to be pretty liberal with the salt. We all found the food to be overly salted. It would have tasted fresher and better in my opinion have taken better if they laid off the salt a bit.
Bartender was very rude, making first impressions pretty bad. The rest of the staff was friendly but not genuine or warm. Food was mediocre at best. Not creative or interesting or even flavourful. Cocktails were very limited and don't stand up to their hype at all. Definitely not worth the prices. You would be better off going to Mana or Green Zebra for the same amount of $$ and ambiance in the same neighborhood.
Overall, the cocktails and food exceeded my expectations. The only reason I really didn't provide a more glowing rating is that our service was not the best. We felt pressured by our waiter to order more than we wanted and when we weren't ready. He was pushy and when we stuck to what we preferred, he made himself scarce and was curt the rest of service.
From a hostess, food and ambiance piece, this place was a great and I would definitely suggest it!
As a vegetarian, I was completely underwhelmed. Food was mediocre at best. Our salad (fiambre) was the best thing we ate all night. The ambiance was nice and it had a lot of promise. Skipped out on the $45 crudité platter. My friends and I joked we could have hummus and baba for much cheaper anyplace else! I personally will not be back.
