Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
My favorite was the lamb ribs and the goat empanadas! Yummo!!!
Hip atmosphere, decor, and music, AMAZING food and service. The chick pea fritters and charred octopus were out of this world. Highly recommend!
We told our waitress to order us a meal' and we weren't disappointed. Amazing experience.
Outstanding everything. Carefully crafted dining experience from start to finish. They also acknowledged our anniversary with a dessert that was outstanding. Make a reso or stand in line with hopes to get a table cause people are clambering to get in!
Excellent, from service to drinks to food. We tried a lot and everything was outstanding.
Birthday dinner with new food experiences including goat.
Great place, food was amazing! Loved everything about this place
This was my third time at Girl and the Goat and definitely the least impressive. I hadn’t been there for two years and was expecting the same unforgettable experience as before. Food was overcooked and portions were smaller. We sat at the chef’s table, and repeatedly saw food being returned by waiters and higher-up chefs. Not sure what was going on that night, hopefully it was just a fluke and quality hasn’t changed.
Service was very good, the place looks nice though there is nothing distinctive about the interior. The giant wood shelves on the tables holding one small candle take up too much space and are unnecessary. The food was good, not great. Too much sauce on most of the dishes and the sauces are over the entire plate so you have no choice. Octupus was overcooked. Duck tartar had too much sesame oil. Goat Empanada was the best thing we ate by far. The presentation on every plate seemed messy. Not sloppy, but intentionally scattered. Every description by the food runners was rushed through and hard to understand. Overall it wasn't worth the trip to an extremely busy part of town with difficult parking options.
I adore this restaurant. It’s a foodies dream and the service is amazing. You’re cared for and treated like family the moment you walk through the doors. Thank you for a memorably delicious night.
We were in town for a girls trip and could only get a 4:30pm reservation. Even at that early time, the food and atmosphere did not disappoint. The food comes out as it’s made and is served to share. Every dish we got was delicious and so unique. Would recommend. A little louder but not sure you could help that since it’s busy all the time.
Our first time to the Girl and the Goat. Unbelievable food and drinks. The atmosphere is quite lively. We'll definitely be back but next time with a larger group so we can sample more dishes. That's the way to go.
Delicious! Loved it all. Service was great! Thank you. :)
My husband and I were in Chicago 4 years ago and could not get into Girl and The Goat. For this vacation we made sure to make a reservation well in advance. This waa hands down the best meal we have ever had. Everything we ordered was fantastic. This is a very fun restaurant and the ambiance is unique. Our server was top notch. We will be sure to visit Girl and The Goat next time we are in Chicago.
Excelente. Lo mejor el Lamb Ribs, el Shoulder, empanadas y los peppers.
Girl and the Goat is one of the top restaurants in Chicago for good reason. It is a fun place with great innovative food and great service. Every dishes we had was excellent. It is not inexpensive but surely worth the price. go if you can!
The service was impeccable, Original and amazing. The service was on pat. We were pleased with every dish we ordered.
Always fantastic!!!! We’ve always had great food & service. A rare gem
We had big expectations and they were exceeded! Such a fun atmosphere, amazing service and incredible dishes! We’ll be back for sure!
Friend of my recommended Girl and the Goat when I asked tips for restaurants in Chicago and we weren't diappointed: food was creative but still simple enough with well balanced flavours. All the 12 (+2 extra we received) dishes we tasted were at minimum very good, most of them excellent. Sharing portions may not be something everyone prefers but personally I enjoyed the possibility to try many different foods. Service was also really good, not too pushy but very helpful and friendly. Our orders were also delivered impressively fast after our order was placed.
I might have eaten better food a couple of times but the price/quality ratio here is hard to match. The only minus comes from slightly too high volume of music in the restaurant but that might be just my approaching middle age speaking.
I highly recommend Girl and the Goat to anyone visiting Chicago but be early with your booking: I booked 1,5 months ahead and only got time at 10PM.
Must come here with a big group so you can try everything on the menu. We had a party of 4 so we were able to try 9 dishes. My favorite was the goat empanada, but everything tasted amazing.
Had a wonderful meal! Loved the cauliflower, broccoli and chickpea fritters...Devin my waitress was very helpful and guided me through the menu with great suggestions! Thanks very much for your kindness. I will definitely be back.
Horrible service. Extremely rude staff. Food is very good but overpriced for the portion size.
Flew out from Phoenix and got a chance to try this place out and it was amazing.
We had a nice table for 2 at 7:45 on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is dark and warm and lively with people... perfect for a Saturday night. We had the foccaccia, octupus, walleye, fritters and got empanadas and left feeling satisfied and with a unique experience, along with a couple of cocktails. The walleye was our favorite. When you go to the Girl and the Goat you’re going for something special. Of course, his restaurant is somewhat pricey for tapas, but totally worth the splurge for a special occasion or date night.
Great food and cocktails. Very enjoyable evening. Only minus was we felt a little rushed at times. One entrée after another came out with very little time in between. Other than that, very delicious.
My parents celebrated their anniversary! Thank you for making it so special for them!
Overdone tourist location - much better restaurants in west loop! Food was cold, too fast, experience has gone down significantly over the past 3 years.
This was one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. Everything was exceptional- table overlooking the kitchen, server was excellent, the food was amazing, and the method of eating is exactly what I enjoy with shareable plates and casual atmosphere. We’ve lived all over the country, including NYC, so for this restaurant to be tops is saying a lot! Can’t wait to come back to Chicago to visit again.
Awesome food, service and drinks, and a fun, lively restaurant.
Nice and friendly service. The food was delicious. They were generous enough to offer the birthday dessert for my friend free of charge. Next time I’m in Chicago, I will come back!
We came from Philadelphia to try our the food scene and we were recommended Girl & The Goat. Probably one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time. Owen, our waiter was great. Friendly & informative but didn’t hover. Support staff was great too. Food was outstanding! Every dish was better than the last! The cocktails were phenomenal too! Well balanced & complimented the food. We will be flying back to Chicago sooner than planned to get a chance to eat here again!
Overall an excellent experience. Amazing taste throughout the dishes, good choice of food and wine, very sympatethic service (too fast?). May be a little bit noisy but that what happens when the whole place is full! Now I understand why it’s hard to get a table there. A must go.
The staff was very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious
Excellent food in Chicago’s restaurant row. Well crafted cocktails are easily paired with the sharing sized plates m. I highly recommend the shishito peppers and the lamp chops.
This was my first time here. We had to wait for a long time for a reservation but it certainly was worth it!! The food and the timing between servings was perfect. The menu is very versatile-you can be conservative or daring in your choices. Portions are very good sized for 2. The bill was not as much as I expected for all that we had. I'll be back for sure
Everything was delicious! The cranberry lemonade, the string beans with cashews, the roasted cauliflower, the walleye, steak and the pork shank! The meal got better as each shareable plate came.
The service was GREAT! It was an unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to come again. Next time we are in Chicago the “Girl and the Goat” will be the first place we make reservations.
This is a MUST!
Overall was very good. Even though we brought a toddler with us which is not ideal for this place but it worked out just fine. This place gets super busy thou.. even with reservation we waited about 15-20 mins.
