One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Great place, food is eccelefic and strange, but always fun to bring out of town guests to. They sat us a little late but it was still a great time
Sitting at the kitchen was awesome! Dinner and a show
We loved it. In town for a convention for the 3rd year and trip to G&TG. As good of not better each year!
Inventive dishes impeccably prepared. Too many to list here. Service was friendly and attentive, bartenders as well. Would highly recommend.
Everything was great. The only complaint is the host was a bit of a snob to us when we arrived (staring blankly at us without a greeting or smile until I mentioned my reservation). Other than that, our server was great, cocktails delicious, and food outstanding.
There is just no place better! Anywhere!
I came for my birthday. The food was amazing. The waitor was very friendly. I absolutely love this place.
We had a wonderful experience at Girl and the Goat. Our server was helpful, friendly and extremely likeable. We shared a number of dishes and liked them all, but the standouts were the Calamari Bruschetta and the Green Beans. Amazing since neither of us are fans of green beans. These are two dishes that will make you shake your head at the creativity and artistry of Steph Izard.
Very expensive for casual dining and the portions were ridiculously small
Super loud. Table in the corner
This was one of the top culinary experiences of my LIFE. Service was incredibly quick, my table was right next to the window and had GREAT lighting, food was beyond exceptional, drinks were tasty, ambiance was quiet and uncrowded. Honestly, give that guy that refills your water every 20 seconds a RAISE because he was ON. IT. He even folded my date's napkin when he left to use the bathroom. On another note, the food runner dropped our lamb ribs at the table next to us on accident, but no harm no foul because the MANAGER BROUGHT US OUT FREE GREEN BEANS THAT WERE EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE. This place was hip. as. hell. 10/10 would attend again.
This restaurant was recommended to me by my friend and although the service was great, everything else was disappointing. The prices were high in comparison to the portion of food and the food didn’t taste good in my opinion and I’m a foodie and have tried lots of cuisine. My husband liked the pork shank but it wasn’t great as expected for a $26 entree. I made the reservation ahead of time and specifically mentioned it was for my husband’s birthday yet when we were finished with our meal I had to ask the server if they did anything for birthdays when the whole point of noting the special occasion on the reservation was so it would be a surprise for my husband. I figured for a restaurant that charges in their price range would be on top of their game on that.
Excellent food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious; chickpea fritters and lamb ribs were our favorites. Good selection of wines that are well priced. Definitely would dine here again.
Grandes platillos, gran servicio.
Great experience and amazing dishes!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had hands down. I have watched Stephanie Izard on Top Chef and Iron Chef and knew that I had to eat here when I was in Chicago for work. I made a reservation for myself at 930pm. I hoped that I would be able to get into the bar earlier, but if I couldn’t I had to make sure I had a seat. When I arrived about 630pm on a Monday, the place was insanely busy! I couldn’t believe how busy it was for a Monday night. However, Within about 5 minutes I was able to find a seat at the bar. The service as great, he recommended a few of his favorites and then most popular dishes. I ended up getting the confit goat belly and the halibut.
The halibut arrived first and I was blown away. The flavors worked so well together. It was very light and delicate but full of flavor. The goat belly was amazing as well. I had never had goat before. I was a little worried it was going to be fatty like pork belly is however it was the polar opposite. It was crispy and very rich. It was topped with lobster and crab. It was great. I will definitely be back!!
Look, it's all been said before. I can only remind everyone of the universal truth that The Girl and the Goat is AMAZING. That is all.
awesome all around
I was pretty disappointed I gotta say. I waited over 1.5 month to get a reservation because I had heard great things.
First, don’t advertise yourself as high gluten free friendly cos that is not the case. Our server did an excellent job ensuring things were gluten free but they had to be modified to the point where the dishes lost their wow factor.
The beet salad was a joke so salty. The goat carpaccio also was a disappointment also super salty. The pork cheek was the best but could be a little less salty. The gluten free bread was really great!
The cocktails were very nice. The wine variety could be better for per glass.
Overall disappointing for the 1+ month wait.
We enjoyed celebrating mothers day with our five kids!
Delicious food, but service was hurried, robotic and indifferent. Service did not match the quality of the food.
Food was great, service was great. The vegetables are consistently amazing.
Seriously, one of the best meals I've ever had and I'm a cook and SF/Napa resident and restaurant-goer. The wine-maker/restauranteer friends that were with us were deeply impressed as well. Service was outstanding and sequenced perfectly. The family style presentation is perfect for this menu. Kudos to the kitchen!
My fiance and I arrived 30 minutes early for the reservation (9:30pm), and were seated 15 minutes after the reservation time (10:15pm). One of the dishes (chickpea fritters) was amazing and I would definitely recommend. The other 6 dishes were unfortunately sub-par. The oysters were tiny, the focaccia bread was OK. Himachi crudo was not bad, but certainly not worth the price. Diver scallops had a great flavor combination, but I would have preferred some searing/crispness on the scallops (the top/bottom were completely soft). The braised beef tongue was a small amount of protein in a large salad. It tasted OK, but the accompanying salad did not have a great flavor. It also had cilantro which was not stated on the menu, and my fiance (along with ~10% of the population) completely despises cilantro. This dish was not edible for him. The pig face had a very delicious flavor combination, however our egg was completely overcooked and the yolk did not run (which is a signature feature of the restaurant's most signature dish - how do you mess up cooking an egg?). The waiter brought a free birthday dessert for my fiance which was unexpected and very good, however this gesture does not compensate for the generally underwhelming and unpleasant experience we had. This restaurant is over-hyped and not worth the prices.
I had high expectations for Girl & the Goat to and it did not disappoint. We sat kitchen side and got to watch all of the prep. Had the upside of getting close to the kitchen staff, but downside of the noise. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful, but also didn’t skew any of our decisions, which was appreciated. Delicious cocktails to start followed by incredible main dishes. 5 stars out of 5.
Best meal I have ever had.
The scallops were pure Umami.
Relatively enjoyable dining experience. Food was interesting but not something that we would need to rush back to, though glad we went.
Service was okay, though Server never really explained the food and they forgot to bring me my main dish.
Dessert was best thing about the evening.
This was everything we hoped for! We are big fans of Chef Stephanie and this restaurant has been on our bucket list for some time. The service was great, ambiance and music were great as well! The food was delicious! One of my favorite restaurants thus far!
Longtime Chicagoan, finally had my chance to dine here. It lives up to the hype and then some. Best meal I’ve had in months.
Great food, great place, second time around and excellent once more.
Very disapointed by this restaurant. Service was rude and the food was ok but we expected so much more. Definitely overrated.
Absolutely unreal restaurant. Everything was fantastic from the food to the service. We’ll definitely be back!
The restaurant has a fun upscale yet relaxed vibe. Not pretentious at all. Our server took the time to explain all of our questions. We ended up ordering 6 dishes for 2 people and this was perfect. We had the cauliflower, shishito peppers, beet salad, scallops, goat empanadas and pig face. Everything was amazing. The only dish that we felt was a little under the hype was the pig face. It was delicious but it felt more like a breakfast hash browns with bacon and egg. We definitely recommend this place and can’t wait to go back.
Great food and nice dessert, all of our dishes was really nice. The cocktails was okay but pricey. The place is nicely decorated and have a nice atmosphere to it.
The menu offered several innovative dishes. Loved everything we ordered. The pork shoulder was amazing. Great wine list. Great place to dine.
Perfect, delish! Will be back!
The food was amazing. I would highly recommend the calamari bruschetta and the green beans. The pig face is also a must! Great service and incredible combination of food. Each dish is meant to split 4 ways so with our party of 5 one of us had to skip or get a very small portion of each dish. It was a little loud.
We drove across state heading back to Canada. On the way we pass by Chicago and wanted to try Girl and the Goat.
We booked for 8 pm that day but went in early - surprisingly they took us in and lead us to the chef's table!
This totally made our trip to Chicago!
Thank you so much for the awesome experience.
Food was delicious, service was outstanding. The wait staff was prompt and knowledgeable. Also, went to celebrate my fiancées graduation from graduate school and they noticed on the open table reservation and brought out complimentary dessert on her behalf. Will definitely visit again!
