What Insiders Are Saying
Every neighborhood needs a neighborhood restaurant as good as Prospect in Fort Greene.
GREAT PLACE TO GO WHEN THERE IS A SHOW AT BAM. A SOLID CHOICE.
I love this place. Perfect pre and post theater and for dates or out with friends, the food and cocktails are always outstanding. I’m so sorry to see them closing after today.
We went for Monday night burgers — pat la Frieda beef cooked perfectly for $8. Delicious! And the chef was so kind to our son. He even sent dessert to our table. The menu has some great dishes and good cocktails, nice for date night.
I love this neighborhood and its restaurants. This was not my favorite. If I have to order your burger because I find everything else a little too "special"---ie. only pasta is ink squid pasta--I'm probably not bowled over. The menu is too quirky to be so limited (about 5 entrees). Try again.
It’s a very limited menu. They have 5 entrees and were out of two of them. It was 6:30 on a Saturday night. Overall, I was very underwhelmed by the food - the chicory salad was the highlight. I wouldn’t go back
My new go-to place when friends visit from out of town!! Love the food here
Absolutely amazing! Can’t get enough of this place!
A lovely neighborhood bistro. Excellent food and a great wine list. We found the prices a bit high but for a special night out, it would be perfect.
Very limited menu. On top of that, we got there at 8:45 and 3 of the key menu items were no longer available...
Kick the vibe up a notch and you've got an A+. Even without that, food was delicious. A solid A!
I enjoyed my meal here and the fact that they have a Serbian red on the wine list. The staff was nice and accommodating. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the smell of cigar that wafted through the air. I hope they do something about that. It was the only unpleasant aspect of my experience and the table next to me was annoyed by it as well.
We dined at Prospect before a play at The Theater for a New Audience. Prospect never disappoints with its nice wine selection, tasty appetizers ( we had olives and almonds and their special bread and butter), and delicious entrees. The crispy chicken with trumpet mushrooms and spaetzle was simply delicious and my husband tried the burger and fries for the first time. Ambiance and service are very friendly.
Gloppy uninspired food
Restaurant was freezing
Very tight tables
I absolutely love everything about this place! The food, the service, the decor ... Everything!
Excellent meal and service, some of the dishes are quite heavy but very creative and complex with a lot of interesting flavor combinations. Service was excellent and environment warm and comfortable.
Pre-theater birthday dinner
Lovely New Year's Eve dinner spot. Great cocktails and wine list, although the presentation of the wine list was a tiny bit confusing (to be fair, just an overemphasis from the som on how expensive the specials were, followed by enthusiastic selling of said specials... Like, I can see the price, so tell me how great they are and just let me decide, don't warn me first LOL.) Overall the service was informal and familiar but sweet, especially given the holiday. Also really glad to get the regular menu + some specials vs overpriced Prix Fixe. The food is delicious. We loved the amazing! Duxbury oysters, the rillettes, the potato pancakes, the chicken with spaetzle and the uni pasta with a sous vide egg. Less amazing were the two desserts. Feels like a halfhearted effort, although tasty. Do they get it brought in? I'm not a dessert person, so I didn't care much, but if you live and die for dessert, go someplace else for your postdinner sweets fix. All in all, would love to return and highly recommend a fun night at Prospect. Convenient to subways and other bars as well as to BAM/Barclays.
Food was very good.
Small place with excellent service and well prepared food. Close to the Barclays in downtown Brooklyn, another neighborhood with a burgeoning restaurant scene. Pro tip, the broth from the mussels is sublime.
Exceptional service and really great food! Perfect place for pre-show dinner if you're going to an event at BAM.
Christmas dinner with nephews. Service perfunctory. No warmth. Food good but average. Over $200 for 4 without apps or dessert.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff serving excellent food. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals.
Love this place. The ribs fell off the bone and the crispy brussel sprouts, a regular order for us when we see them on a menu, were some of the best we’ve ever had. I had the chicken with beet spatzle & whole roasted chanterelles which was one of the most phenomenal chicken meals I’ve ever had. a tad on the salty side in some bits but wow, so great. My boyfriend had the ricotta gnudi which was light and fluffy and delicious. Cocktails were yummy too. A very nice gentleman that worked there helped us pick a bottle of wine, as he selected all the wines for the menu. We ended up with a light and fruity Hungarian wine that went perfectly with dinner. All for ~$180 after tip. All around fantastic meal. We sat at the chef’s counter, was great watching the kitchen work!
This is a great spot for date night, getting together with friends and a special occasion. The food and cocktails were great. The tables aren’t too close together. The portions and price were perfect. Four of us got two appetizers, four entrees, probably two drinks each and we spent $200 plus tip - great price point for a fun get together with out-of-towners without spending a fortune.
Truly delicious, perfectly cooked food in a small, uncrowded, simple and casual, cozy room. Perfect for dinner before a performance at BAM, so long as you have sufficient time to enjoy the meal (the kitchen is small and takes its time to get things right).
Delicious, well-portioned food & cocktails. Seasonal menus mean different experiences every few months.
Hidden little gem! Not easy to find but it’s well worth the trip!
Great pre-BAM dinner spot. Comfortable, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Small menu, but very well prepared. The ricotta gnudi are fabulous! As are the brussel sprouts side! Desserts - limited to two choices - are all right, but not as good as the rest of the menu.
Prospect is definitely our go-to place when attending events at BAM or the Polonsky Theater. Service is excellent and attuned to the needs of Theater-goers, the food is wonderful, whether you want a full meal or some lighter fare, and the wine list continues to please and change. Just a delight in every way!
Excellent food. Informal? Neighborly place. Good for quiet conversation if you go early.
Not at all ordinary deviled eggs, Arctic Char with romesco in brown butter (outstanding) Duck breast, incredibly moist, and with delicious farro, fabulous burger cooked as ordered, parsnip soup with or without scallops, lavender panna cotta with hint of lemon thyme, presented in a half-pint mason jar. Exemplary wine list with unusual offerings roughly grouped by characteristics of the terroir—my friends loved the orange wine by the glass. This place should have two Michelin stars. Service was excellent, and it was a very busy Saturday evening. One of the finest small restaurants in Brooklyn. Don't tell anyone!
We always enjoy coming to Prospect, the food is so delicious and the service is great.
One thing I’d like to ask is if they could offer vegan options.
Service was great. Risotto description on menu was misleading. Fish of the day was delicious. Dessert was good but tiny. Would return.
We had a nice meal. The calamari and the bbq pork were very good. The brusselsprouts were less of a hit. The service was very good.
Really enjoyed our meal. The baby back ribs appetizer was amazing. Service was great, very attentive. Space was at a premium.
The food was phenomenal. We were lucky to get the Brussels sprouts special. It was beyond delicious! Great food, great service
We arrived late on a Friday evening. The place was full of energy. Kitchen and bar obviously backed up and we waited quite a long time for our drinks and our food. Quality all the way, and worth the wait.
Wonderful service and food was exceptional.
Excellent consistently. A great place to go before BAM events.
Prospect is our go-to restaurant before performances at BAM or The Polonsky Theater. The stFf is attuned to ensuring you are out before performance time, the food and service are greT, as well as the ambiance. Also good wine selections. What more could one ask?
