Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 5pm- 10:00pm, Sunday 4-9pm
We dined at Sperata in celebration of our 33rd wedding anniversary. Michael was our waiter and took great care of us. We arrived not knowing that they have live music on the weekend. Larry Parker was masterful on the piano and it made for the perfect soundtrack to our evening. Even though we were sitting right next to the piano, we could still have a conversation. As for the food, we started with the Vidalia Onion appetizer. It was a wonderful treat. For dinner, I had the rack of lamb, but rather than having the mint jelly on the side, I instead took Michael's advice and tried the goat cheese sauce. Good choice. My wife had the almond crusted salmon with an orange reduction. She gives it five stars all on its own. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée. I wish I could remember the name of the wine we had because it, too, was perfect. We highly recommend Sperata. It is pricey but worth it. It was our first visit but won't be our last.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. Attentive wait staff. A wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely dinner.
Our waiter was very personable and professional. We loved the cozy, European atmosphere at Sperata and the food was quite good. My mashed potatoes were a bit salty and the Caesar salad would've been better with less dressing, but the bread, the lamb and the scallops were excellent. It took a while to get our food, but we were not in a rush.
Great restaurant in downtown Buford. Would recommend to anyone
Best steak I’ve had in years. The wait staff is wonderful. The wine list is awesome, especially for a small but impressive restaurant in Buford. We’ve been there three times in the last four weeks.
The food and atmosphere was great. A memorable and enjoyable experience!
Love eating here! They have THE best fried green tomatoes around! You should try them!
Just had a very pleasant evening at Sperata. My date enjoyed an eggplant dish that was sort of like eggplant parmesan but different - with goat cheese. I had an encrusted salmon that was so much better than I had last week at a high-end restaurant in Lawrenceville. The meal was capped off by a delicious flourless chocolate tort. One word of warning - the actual menu was very different from the online menu, including a lack of chicken dishes. Thankfully seafood was well represented for those who must avoid beef.
Excellent cuisine with an ambience that defies the small town location. Service was over-the-top with Oliver's attentiveness and advice. We will be back time and again!
Sperata delivers on all cylinders for our first visit. Great food (escargot for appetizer, seafood trio special and rack of lamb for entrees, followed by a wicked chocolate cake at the end), wonderful waitstaff and the perfect ambiance for our special occasion. All this with a good beer & wine selection and reasonable prices.
We will return.
Piano was idle on a Monday night but we're told it's live on Fridays and Saturdays (except 1st Saturday of each month).
Great atmosphere and food. Privies were a little on the high side for Buford, GA but it is an upscale experience without having to drive to downtown Atlanta. Still, highly recommended!
Great place to dine
As always I enjoy my experience! Oliver is an outstanding waiter.
Highly recommend great food, service and atmosphere
Awesome food and service and great piano player
The overall experience was very good and the portions were more than adequate. The escargot was very good as were our entrees. The shrimp and lobster thermador was good but the vegetables were few and not very good. The rack of lamb was also good. E warned that the menu is limited in choices and a little pricey for an everyday weekend dinner but the food was good and it’s a nice quiet place for a dinner date. Because of the prices I would probably reserve it for special occasions. We really enjoyed the piano player and his selections were great for dinner. The only negative was they refilled our wine glasses but charged us for it although we did not ask for more. That’s the main reason I dropped them to a 4.
Wait staff on the snooty side. Not very welcoming. Got the feeling waiting on us was an imposition.
A little disappointing visit. For the money the food was not as good as on previous visits. Onion tart had way too much goat cheese. The salmon oscar was swimming in sauce with what was supposed to be au gratin vegetables but was a mushy mess. The wine was extremely overpriced for the selection. The seafood special had shrimp with head, shells and tails. Very difficult to eat. The flourless chocolate cake needed to be served warm with a fruit sauce but was cold and covered in chocolate sauce so there weren't really levels of flavor.
We enjoyed our experience and will make plans to return. Live piano music in the background was nice.
The portions are large and the food was good but there was nothing special to bring me back. Our waiter, Christopher, was very attentive and overall we had a pleasant evening. The restaurant space is in an old building and is quite nice. Our total bill was almost $200 including wine and tip, which I don't mind spending for a special occasion, but I don't feel the overall experience was worth the money.
Absolutely wonderful experience, Oliver took great care of us and the food was amazing.
Great restaurant the food is excellent and the service also. Love the onion tart app. Sperata has a new menu with some really great choices. If you can go on a weekday as it is less crowded and you will get a great dinner with service to match.
Michael, as usual was an outstanding waiter. Remembers his customers, knows the best food. knows the chef. No problem in turning a fantastic experience ove to his capable hands, He will not disappoint you.
This was our first time at Sperata, although we have known about it for many years. It will not be our last. The experience was serendipity and value for price paid well worth every dollar. This is definitely a "KEEPER" on our list of local restaurants.
Always a wonderful experience. Great atmosphere, wonderful food and impeccable service.
My girlfriend and l are a big fans of southern Italian quisine. We have also worked in the industry over the years, and live in Lawrenceville. After reading the reviews we decided to give Sperata a try. We we were not disappointed. We arrived early evening on Sunday, and the restaurant was not busy. I was impressed with the menu selections. It was creative but straight to the point. Our waiter Charles was very knowledgeable, entergetic, and attentive. We were impressed with his passion for his craft. Food quality was outstanding! Even though they removed a number of items from the menu. We understood because we dined on Sunday. Overall, we found a gem in Buford. Can’t wait to return!!!
Fabulous as always
Great food and great service. We live in Buckhead and this restaurant was as good as the best restaurants there.
Very pleased. Drove from Atlanta, in traffic on a hot day, and it was worth it. Excellent food and service. Totally enjoyed it.
Oliver was a wonderful waiter! Our meal was great! I especially liked the fried green tomato appetizer. Yum!
Charlie was super and the food was so good. Worth the price. They all made us feel very comfortable. Nice very pleasant live piano to listen to but was not over powering so you could Cary on a good conversation without having to shout.
Will try to hurry back.
Oh, and also had the best Tiramisu I ever had. Modern
A new favorite! The service was wonderful. The food was outstanding. The ambiance was quaint and friendly. We were there for an anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. We were sat right next to the piano which I could imagine might annoy some people, but it was not overbearing and we found it enjoyable. People watching of people going to see a Queen cover band down the street was an added bonus. We will definitely be back soon.
Went for father's day. The restaurant wasn't that crowded and was surprised was able to book a popular fining time. The food was good but not great. I had the lamb and it was pretty good but nothing fantastic. Had much better at other restaurants. They do give you large portions. My wife had the King Fish and again large portion. But it was on the dry side. Still edible and good but not great. We shared a Picasso salad and that may have been the best dish. The only knock on the salad was that it had too much on the dressing on it although the dressing was very good. We wanted to try Sperata because of of the very good reviews but I feel it is over-rated. The best part of the dinner was a server, Oliver. He was great.
Absolutely the best restaurant in North Gwinnett County. Absolutely the finest food, presentation and staff. We could not have found a better place to celebrate father's day.
Out of several great restaurants in downtown Buford, Speratas is the best of the best for fine dining occasions. Definitely my favorite!
Service and food were good. Wine list was a bit disappointing but had some bottles we knew and liked.
Excellent service and food. The atmosphere is great! Not too big and just really feels nice and elegant in it's on way.
This is our favorite restaurant. Always great food and service.
My second visit and cannot say enough about the attention to detail! The food! The service! The chef is talented and Oliver will make certainly your experience is memorable!
Awesome in every way!!! Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
